Milana Bru: How Tabakov's Student Became the Russian 'Lady Bridgerton'
Milana Bru got her first leading role right away in the 'Russian "Bridgertons"'—the period melodrama 'The Story of His Maid.' But her path to it began in the workshop of the legendary Oleg Tabakov.
Milana Shakerovnа Bru was born in 2001 in Kursk. She has Syrian-Russian roots: her father is a Syrian who came to study at Kursk Medical University and stayed to work as a pharmacist. After school, Milana enrolled at the Moscow Theatre School of Oleg Tabakov—in the master's own class, who quickly recognized her talent and joked that "with such a surname, one cannot help but become an actress." After Tabakov's death, Vladimir Mashkov continued the class—Milana graduated from it with honors in 2021.
First Roles
She began acting in 2022. Her first notable work was the melodrama 'Mom Is Always Right,' followed by the social drama 'I Take a Step' about people with dyslexia. Her filmography also includes 'Fear Over the Neva' (2023), 'Make a Wish for Love' (2023), and 'Couriers' (2024).
Anna from 'The Story of His Maid'
In 2026, Bru played the leading role—noblewoman Anna Averina, who, facing financial ruin, agrees to become a maid to Count Sheremetev. For the actress, this is her first major leading role, and it was this role that made Milana Bru's name known to a wide audience.
